SRD Status Approved — What It Means, When You Get Paid and What To Do If Payment Has Not Arrived
What To Do First
Log in to the SRD status portal and confirm which specific month shows as Approved. Check whether a payment date is displayed alongside the Approved status for that month. If a payment date is showing, your payment is scheduled and you simply need to wait for it to reflect in your account. If no payment date is showing for an approved month, your banking details need attention before payment can be processed. Fix your banking details immediately at srd.sassa.gov.za if no payment date is visible.
What SRD Approved Means
Approved means SASSA completed the monthly eligibility assessment for that specific month and determined that you qualify for the SRD R370 grant for that period. All automated cross-checks across government databases were completed and no disqualifying factor was found for that month.
Approved is a monthly result, not a permanent status. Each month is assessed independently. An Approved result for one month does not guarantee approval for the following month. Your circumstances and the records linked to your ID are re-checked every month and the result can change from month to month.
The wording appears in two different places depending on what was approved.
SRD application approval on the SRD status portal means your monthly assessment was approved and payment will be processed.
SRD appeal approval on the SRD appeals portal means ITSAA reviewed your appeal for a previously declined month and found in your favour. Payment for that specific appealed month will be processed.
Both types of approval result in payment being initiated but they follow slightly different timelines as explained below.
How To Find Your Personal SRD Payment Date
Your payment date is personal to you and is shown on the SRD status portal alongside your Approved status. It is not the same as the general SRD payment window published each month. Your personal date falls within that window at a point determined by when your approval was processed and when your banking details were verified.
To find your payment date, go to the SRD status portal. Enter your ID number and registered phone number. Request and enter the OTP. Select the month showing as Approved. Your personal payment date will be displayed next to the Approved status for that month.
Note this date. Allow two to three working days after your payment date for funds to reflect in your account. Smaller banks and digital accounts sometimes take an extra day compared to the major banks.
What To Do If No Payment Date Is Showing
If your status shows Approved but no payment date is visible for that month, payment has not yet been scheduled. This almost always means one of the following.
Your banking details are not verified. SASSA must verify your banking details before scheduling payment. If your details were recently updated or have not been verified yet, payment will be held until verification completes. Log in to the SRD portal and check whether your banking details are showing as verified. If not, update them immediately. For full guidance see our SRD Banking Details Update page.
Your banking details are missing. If you have not yet provided banking details, SASSA has nowhere to send the payment. Log in and add your banking details as soon as possible.
Your banking details failed verification. If the account you provided does not match your ID document name, is closed, or is in another person’s name, verification will fail. Correct your details and resubmit. Use only an account in your own name.
Payment processing is still in progress. For some approved months, the payment date appears only once batch processing begins. If your approval is very recent, wait a few days before treating the absence of a payment date as a problem.
After updating your banking details, allow one to two payment cycles for verification to complete and a payment date to appear.
SRD Payment Methods for Approved Grants
Bank account deposit. Your payment reflects automatically in your nominated bank account on or shortly after your payment date. This is the most reliable method.
TymeBank. Fully accepted for SRD and widely used. Free to open at Pick n Pay or Boxer. Payments reflect on the payment date like any other bank account.
Capitec. Widely accepted and commonly used for SRD deposits.
CashSend. A voucher code is sent to your registered phone number. Collect cash at certain ATMs or retailers using this code. Vouchers expire if not collected promptly. Less reliable than a direct bank deposit.
Retail collection. Cash collection at Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite, Checkers, or Usave if your SRD is set up for retail collection. Take your ID document to the retailer on or after your payment date. You will receive an SMS with collection instructions.
Post Office. Significantly disrupted due to the Post Office’s financial difficulties. If you are still registered for Post Office collection, update to a bank account immediately through srd.sassa.gov.za.
What To Do If You Are Approved But Payment Has Not Arrived
If your payment date has passed and funds have not reflected, work through these steps in order.
Wait three working days after your payment date before treating it as a problem. Processing times vary across banks and some accounts take longer to reflect SASSA deposits.
Check your bank statement carefully. SASSA payments sometimes reflect under references that do not obviously show as SASSA. Look for entries showing SOCIAL GRANT, SAPO, or a numerical reference rather than the word SASSA.
Contact your bank. Ask whether a SASSA deposit was received and whether it was accepted or returned. Some account configurations block certain types of government deposits. If your bank returned the payment, ask them to reverse the block and contact SASSA to request reprocessing.
Contact SASSA on 0800 60 10 11. Ask them to confirm your payment status for the specific approved month, the payment reference number, and which account it was processed to. Note the call reference number. If payment was processed to incorrect details or an account that rejected it, request reprocessing.
Visit your nearest SASSA office if phone contact does not resolve the issue. Take your ID document, your bank statement, and your call reference numbers.
For comprehensive guidance on this situation see our SRD Payment Not Received page.
What Approved Means When It Appears on Your Appeal Status
If you submitted an appeal for a previously declined month and your appeal status now shows Approved, ITSAA reviewed your appeal and found in your favour. This means the original decline decision was overturned for that specific month and payment will be initiated.
Appeal approval payment timelines work slightly differently from regular monthly approval payment timelines. There is no single fixed appeal payment date. Payment for an approved appeal is initiated after the appeal decision is processed and then follows SRD payment processing for that period.
To check whether a payment date has been assigned following an approved appeal, go to the SRD status portal and check the payment date shown for the appealed month. If no payment date is yet showing, check your banking details and allow additional time for the appeal payment to be processed.
How Many Months Can Be Approved at Once
Because SRD is assessed monthly, you can have multiple months showing as Approved simultaneously. Each approved month is paid separately. There is no combined payment for multiple approved months. Each month has its own payment date and each payment is processed independently.
If you have several months showing as Approved, check the payment date for each one individually on the status portal. Payment for older approved months may have already been processed and reflected in a previous period. Check your bank statement for deposits during earlier months to confirm whether older approved months were already paid.
Approved Status and Reapplication
SRD applications run for a fixed period. When the application period ends, your status will show Reapplication Required for the new period even if previous months show as Approved. Completing a new application for the current period does not affect the payment of approved months from your previous application period. Both processes run independently.
If you have approved but unpaid months from a previous application period, contact SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 to confirm whether those payments can still be processed and what steps are needed.

Scam Awareness Around Approved Status
People with an Approved status who are waiting for payment are frequently targeted by scammers who claim they can release or speed up the payment for a fee.
SASSA will never contact you to ask for a fee to release an approved payment. No private person or service can speed up or release an SRD payment. Approved payments are processed automatically by SASSA’s banking systems and reflect on the scheduled payment date without any action required from a third party.
Common approved-status scams include calls claiming your payment is held and requires a fee to release, messages asking for your OTP or banking PIN to process your payment, fake portals claiming to show approved payment release dates, and agents offering to collect your payment on your behalf for a percentage.
Never share your OTP, banking PIN, or SRD PIN with anyone. SRD payments are processed automatically and completely free.

SRD Approved Status FAQs
My status is Approved but I see no payment date. What does this mean? Payment has not yet been scheduled. This usually means your banking details are missing, unverified, or failed verification. Log in to the SRD portal and check your banking details. Update them if needed and allow one to two payment cycles for verification to complete.
How long after approval does it take to receive payment? Payment is processed within the monthly SRD payment window which typically runs from the 20th to the 28th of each month. Your personal payment date within this window depends on your verification status. Allow two to three working days after your payment date for funds to reflect.
I was approved for my appeal. When will I be paid? Appeal approvals are paid after the appeal decision is processed. There is no fixed appeal payment date. Check the status portal for a payment date appearing for the appealed month. Allow additional processing time compared to a regular monthly approval.
Can my Approved status change to Declined in a later month? Yes. Each month is assessed independently. An Approved result for one month does not carry over to future months. Future months are reassessed based on your circumstances and the records linked to your ID at the time of that month’s assessment.
I have multiple approved months but only received payment for some of them. Why? Each approved month is paid separately. Check the payment date for each approved month individually on the status portal. Some months may have had payment processed in a previous period. Check your bank statements for those earlier periods.
My bank says no SASSA deposit was received. What do I do? Contact SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 and ask for the payment reference number and the account it was processed to. If it was sent to incorrect details or an account that rejected it, request reprocessing. For full guidance see our SRD Payment Not Received page.
Someone is offering to collect my SRD payment for me for a fee. Is this legitimate? No. This is a scam. SRD payments go directly into your nominated bank account or are collected by you personally at a retail partner. No third party can legitimately collect your payment on your behalf.
I completed my reapplication but my old approved months are still unpaid. What do I do? Reapplication and old approved months are handled separately. Contact SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 specifically about the unpaid approved months from your previous application period and ask what steps are needed to process those payments.
What is the SRD grant amount in 2026? The SRD R370 grant amount is R370 per approved month as of the 2025/2026 financial year.
