Who We Are, How We Work and Why We Built This Site
Millions of South Africans rely on SASSA grants as their primary source of income. When something goes wrong with a grant application, a payment, or an appeal, the consequences are immediate and serious. Yet the information available online is often outdated, incomplete, or written by people who do not understand how the system actually works.
We built this site to fix that. Our goal is to be the most accurate, most comprehensive, and most practically useful independent source of SASSA grant information available to South African beneficiaries.
Every page on this site is written to answer a real question that a real person facing a real problem with their grant would search for. We do not publish content to fill space. We publish content because someone, somewhere, needs that specific answer.
What We Cover
This site covers every aspect of the SASSA grant system that affects beneficiaries directly.
For SRD R370 applicants we cover every decline reason with specific evidence guidance, the full appeals process, payment and banking detail management, and status interpretation.
For other grant types we cover the Child Support Grant, Disability Grant, Older Persons Grant, Foster Child Grant, Care Dependency Grant, and Grant-in-Aid in full, including eligibility, application, payment, and common problems.
We also cover the SASSA means test, identity verification, contact details, payment dates, scam awareness, and how to use SASSA’s online services effectively.
How We Research Our Content
Every page on this site is researched using official primary sources. We do not rely on secondhand summaries or other third-party information sites for our content.
Our primary sources include the official SASSA website at sassa.gov.za, the SRD portal at srd.sassa.gov.za, the SASSA services portal at services.sassa.gov.za, official SASSA publications and circulars, the Social Assistance Act and its regulations, Department of Home Affairs resources, Department of Employment and Labour UIF resources, SARS resources, and official announcements from the South African National Treasury regarding grant amounts.
Where official sources are ambiguous or incomplete we consult practitioner knowledge from organisations that work directly with grant beneficiaries including Black Sash and Legal Aid South Africa.
How We Keep Content Current
SASSA grant amounts, payment dates, eligibility rules, and processes change regularly. We review and update our content on the following schedule.
Grant amounts are updated immediately after the National Treasury budget announcement each February. Payment date schedules are updated at the start of each financial year in April. Process and policy changes are updated as soon as official SASSA announcements are made. All pages display a Last Updated date in the page header so you can see exactly when the content was last verified.

Our Editorial Standards
We hold ourselves to the following standards on every page we publish.
Accuracy. Every factual claim is sourced from an official government source. We do not publish information we cannot verify against an official source.
Completeness. We do not publish partial answers. Every page is designed to fully answer the question it targets, including edge cases, common problems, and next steps if the primary solution does not work.
Clarity. Our content is written for people who are stressed, time-pressured, and often dealing with their first encounter with a government system they do not fully understand. We write in plain language without jargon.
Independence. This site is not affiliated with SASSA, the South African government, or any political party. We are an independent information resource. We do not receive payment from SASSA, any financial institution, or any service provider to feature their products or services in our content.
