Ways to Cancel Your SASSA SRD R370 Grant When You Can’t Use Your Phone Number
Can You Cancel Your SRD Grant Without Your Phone Number?
Yes. If you no longer have access to the phone number linked to your SRD application, you can still cancel through two methods: visiting a SASSA office in person, or submitting a written request.
Method 1: Cancel at a SASSA Office
Visit your nearest SASSA office and bring your South African ID. A SASSA official can verify your identity and process the cancellation directly. This is the most reliable option if you cannot access your registered number.
Method 2: Email SASSA
Send a cancellation request to srd@sassa.gov.za. Include your full name, ID number, and a clear explanation that you no longer have access to your registered phone number. SASSA may take several business days to respond.
Method 3: Try the SRD Portal With Your ID Number
Visit srd.sassa.gov.za and select “Cancel Application.” Some users report being able to proceed using only their ID number when the OTP step fails — though this is not guaranteed.
What to Include in Your Request
Whichever method you use, have the following ready: your full name, South African ID number, the phone number originally registered (if you remember it), and your reason for cancellation.
