How to Cancel Your SASSA SRD R370 Grant — 4 Ways to Cancel Online and Offline
Before You Cancel
Check your current status at srd.sassa.gov.za first. If your application already shows as cancelled or declined, no further action is needed.
You should cancel if your income now exceeds R624 per month, you have started receiving UIF or another government grant, or you no longer need the support. Continuing to receive the grant when you no longer qualify can result in repayment demands or legal action.
Method 1: Cancel Online (Fastest)
Go to srd.sassa.gov.za. Enter your ID number and registered phone number. Click “Send PIN” and enter the OTP sent to your phone. Select “Cancel My Application.” Confirm by selecting “Yes” when prompted. You will receive an SMS confirming your cancellation request has been submitted.
Method 2: Cancel via WhatsApp
Save 082 046 8553 as a contact and send any message to start. Select “Cancel my application” from the menu options. Provide your ID number and phone number when asked to verify your identity. You will receive confirmation once the cancellation is processed.
Method 3: Cancel via Email
Send an email to GrantsEnquiries@sassa.gov.za. Include your full name, ID number, phone number, and a clear statement that you want to cancel your SRD R370 grant. State your reason for cancelling. Allow several business days for a response.
Method 4: Cancel via Helpline
Call 0800 60 10 11 (free, Monday to Friday). Press 1 to speak to a representative. Have your ID number and phone number ready for verification. The representative will process your cancellation request on the call.
How to Cancel Without a Phone Number
If you no longer have access to your registered phone number, you cannot cancel online or via WhatsApp as both require OTP verification. Visit your nearest SASSA office in person with your ID. A SASSA official can verify your identity and process the cancellation directly without your registered number.
How Long Does Cancellation Take?
SASSA typically processes cancellation requests within one week. You will receive an SMS confirmation once approved. Payments stop from the following monthly cycle after cancellation is confirmed.
How to Reapply After Cancelling
If your circumstances change and you want to reapply, go to srd.sassa.gov.za and select “Restore my withdrawn application.” Enter your ID number and phone number, verify with the OTP, answer the eligibility questions, and resubmit. You will receive an SMS confirming your reapplication has been received.
Note: a restored application is assessed against current eligibility criteria. Previous approval does not guarantee reapproval.
Can I Cancel and Reapply Immediately?
Yes. There is no waiting period between cancelling and reapplying. However, submitting a new application before cancelling the old one will result in an automatic decline due to a duplicate application on the system.
