Every SASSA R370 Status Explained — And Exactly What You Should Do Next
How to Check Your SRD Status
Go to srd.sassa.gov.za, enter your South African ID number and registered phone number, verify with the OTP, and your current status will display.
What Your Status Means
Pending Your application is still being processed. SASSA is verifying your details against government databases including Home Affairs, SARS, UIF, and NSFAS. This is normal and can take several weeks, especially after reapplication. No action needed unless it has been longer than 3 months.
Approved Your application has been approved. Check the payment dates page to confirm when and where to collect your R370.
Declined — Income Source Identified A government database flagged an income source linked to your ID. If this is incorrect, submit an appeal within 90 days at srd.sassa.gov.za. If it is correct, you do not qualify while that income source is active.
Declined — Means Test Failed Your income exceeds R624 per month. If your circumstances have changed and you now earn below this amount, reapply at srd.sassa.gov.za.
Declined — UIF Registered You are registered to receive UIF. You cannot receive SRD and UIF simultaneously. Once your UIF payments end you can reapply.
Declined — NSFAS Funded You are receiving NSFAS funding. You do not qualify for SRD while NSFAS is active.
Identity Verification Required You need to complete biometric verification in person before your application can be approved. Visit any Postbank branch or SASSA office with your ID. Dial *120*3210# to find your nearest location.
Application Cancelled Your application was cancelled, either by you or due to inactivity. You can submit a fresh application at srd.sassa.gov.za.
How Long Does Processing Take?
New applications take 2 to 4 weeks on average. After changing banking details, allow 2 to 5 working days for the update to reflect. After completing biometric verification, allow 2 to 5 working days for your status to update.
